PAEDIATRIC 12 HOUR INFANT/ CHILD FIRST AID

Level 3 (VTQ) - PFA

This course meets the requirements laid down by Ofsted, EYFS and CSSIW for people needing a two day 12 hour first aid course for infants and children.  This includes childminders and carers.  The course will allow you to gain a ProTrainings certificate which are approved by councils across the UK.

 

The course meets the latest 2019 learning outcomes set by the Awarding Organisations, the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 as per HSE requirements.

 

ProTrainings Vocational Training Qualifications (VTQ) are fully recognised by the HSE as Trade Body Qualifications.

 

Minimum age for this course is 14 years.

 

Content of the course is universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD).

 

Duration of the course - 12 hours including practical and theory work

 

Certificates are valid for 3 years

 

Cost of this course is £100 per person

COURSE CURRICULUM

 UNIT 1

Emergency Paediatric First Aid

 

Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider

 

Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive

 

Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child who are choking

 

Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is suffering from shock

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child with bites, stings and minor injuries

COURSE CURRICULUM

UNIT 2

Managing paediatric illness, injuries and emergencies

 

Be able to administer first aid to an infant or a child with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints

 

Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with suspected head and spinal injuries

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who is experiencing extremes of body temperature

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child who has sustained an electric shock

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child with burns and scalds

 

Know how to provide first aid to an infant and a child with suspected poisoning

 

Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with anaphylaxis
